Why you need a certificate to get free prescriptions

If you live in England and you’re prescribed any form of medication to manage your diabetes (eg insulin or tablets) you are able to claim free prescriptions but... you must have a valid medical exemption certificate to do so.

Recent changes to the system mean people are getting fined up to £100 if they claim free prescriptions but don’t have a certificate. If you want to keep claiming free prescriptions, get a certificate immediately.
